My name is Rosalind Thompson and I have been a practising Core Process Psychotherapist and Counsellor in Aberdeenshire for the past 20 years. Core Process Psychotherapy is an original mindfulness-based therapy; it draws on Buddhist traditions by attending to experience just as it is in the present moment, and is combined with experience and knowledge of Western psychology. Together, these allow suffering to be met and understood, and then change can begin to occur, revealing our natural core state of greater creativity and flexibility. I am committed to providing psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to improve your life and to live it more fully.
I work near to both HUNTLY and INVERURIE, just off the A96, and can offer sessions, by arrangement, in Forres. I abide by the Code of Ethics of the UK Council For Psychotherapy (www.ukcp,org.uk) and of my accrediting organisation, the Karuna Institute, through our professional body, the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists (www.accponline.net)
I remember starting, in a serious way, to be curious about my life and what makes me tick when I was in my late twenties. Since then, I have gone on an exploratory journey of self development and healing, which consisted of lots of experimental therapeutic workshops, individual therapy, and taking a degree. By the time I got into my fifties I felt I would like to train as a psychotherpists, and undertook my training over five years at Karuna Institute in Devon (www.karuna-institute.co uk). I finally finished my thesis and received my diploma in 2000. As regards my working life, I have experience in business (working at a university, for a publisher, and a large shoe distributor). I have also run my own business as a furniture restorer and traditional upholsterer, including teaching upholstery to adults, which I still do along side my psychotherapy practice. In addition, over a period of 15 years, I worked within the voluntary sector for mental health charities . I have been seeing clients over a period of 25 years, first as a trainee therapist, and then as a fully qualified therapist.

If you feel like your life is getting on top of you or if you have problems you feel you cannot resolve, perhaps you could benefit from a chance to talk things through with someone who will listen and support you. As a therapist, I can provide you with this opportunity, where you can explore your thoughts and feelings to begin finding your own unique way of making changes, thereby embarking on your own path to growth, healing and change.
My practice is located in Pitcaple near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire and is within easy reach of Huntly, Insch, Kintore, Oldmeldrum, Dyce, Ellon, Turriff and Westhill. Aberdeen, Fochabers, Keith, Elgin and Moray coast towns are within reach by car along the A96 or by the hourly bus route (No 10) between Inverness and Aberdeen (I am a 5 minutes walk from the Pitcaple A96 bus stop).
